I love road trips, but there's not always the time to hit the road for a few days. So what's a girl to do? Develop a love for day-tripping of course.

This past weekend we decided to venture to Canberra for the day. We woke the kids bright and early and bundled them into the car. Canberra is only a 2 1/2 hour drive from where we are, but even so we broke up the trip with a breakfast pit stop at McDonalds. Definitely a day-tripping delight for the babies.

We hit up The Mint - Mia wanted to see where all the money was made, she wanted to know if they would give her some. I wish baby girl, I wish!

We then headed to Parliament House, nothing beats seeing where those in charge make all the big decisions. Seriously though, I like reading about politics, so I did get a little rush being there. You can make fun of me later.

Last stop on our trip was The National War Memorial. I always find there is such an eerie sense of calm and peace in a place that is there only because of war. Ironic really. And so emotional.

It was a full busy day, lots of walking, but the weather was gorgeous, sunny, blue skies. So lovely. And the kids were worn out. The fell asleep within 5 minutes on the trip home and only woke when we stopped for a quick driver swap.

What is your favorite day-trip location?

I think your next road trip should be to Melbourne ;) we should seriously consider meeting half way somewhere?

We totally should! We need to look into it for sure, how exciting would that be!

Canberra is a beautiful place and lots to see and do. We used to live there, we were posted there, and we loved it! I'm glad you made the trip to see it. Next time take the kids to Questacon or the National Museum if you haven't been :)
