Girls Day In...

Sunday the boys were having a day together going to one of the hubby's friends places for UFC and a bbq, which meant that my girl and I had the day to ourselves.

We don't get a whole lot of time just the two of us now that she is at school so it was perfect. We were both still tired after our busy day on saturday so a lazy day at home was in order. We watched some tv, did some drawing, she helped me pick out fabric combos for upcoming projects, we did face masks and munched on yummy banana, bacon and cheese toasted fingers.

It was such a lovely relaxing way to spend our sunday. My girl had fun and when her daddy got home she put in a request for a Daddy-Daughter day. Such sweetness in this girl of mine.

I made sure I was present with her, rather than just spending the day with her. I kept the computer off until it was her rest time and only did things that I could include her in. And when she told me at bed time that it was her best day ever, that told me that was the right thing to do. It was such a normal day, nothing exceptional about what we did, but by focusing fully on her without distraction it became special.

Its such an apt reminder that the day to day crazy schedules, the lists and the chores, they do need to put aside for the benefit of our families, for our children. Now I am by no means perfect, I have a knack for adding another ball to the mix when I'm all ready struggling to juggle the ones i have. But I am trying to make sure that this juggler packs all the balls away from time to time to enjoy my life with my family. I don't want to look back and realise that all the good times passed me by.
